Our 4 days Uganda Rwanda gorilla safari does give you an opportunity to go see the great mountain gorillas in their natural habitat. These endangered species with whom we(humans) share about 98% of our DNA with, are only found in Africa and within three countries and that is Uganda, Rwanda and Congo.

Nothing beats the feeling of seeing them out their in the world as they feed and associate with each other as you capture them right onto your camera.

Gorilla trekking in Uganda and Rwanda does require you to have two different gorilla trekking permits from both countries to enable you go into the wild to see these incredible apes. You will be able to see these species in the parks of Volcanoes national park found in Rwanda and Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Kigal, city tour and transfer to volcanoes national park

On arrival in Kigali, our driver will be on the airport and will take through the city to the museums, Kigali genocide memorial center where over a million individuals lost their lives during the 1994 genocide, presidential museum where you will be able to explore where two former Rwandan presidents reside.

You will later be transferred to volcanoes National Park situated in the northwestern part of the country. upon arrival, you will check in to your lodge where you will have your dinner and rest.

Day 2: Gorilla trekking in volcanoes National Park

Wake up early in the morning excited because this is the day you will get to the great mountain gorillas in their natural habitat. After breakfast provided by the lodge, our driver will be waiting for you and you will be led to the park offices for briefing on the guidelines to follow while on the trek in the jungles and close to the gorillas.

After the briefing, you will be led into the jungles in search of mountain gorillas. Gorilla trekking in Volcanoes National Park takes 2-6hrs depending on the location of these species.

During the trek, you will be able to discover an see other species found within the park that include the butterflies, forest elephants, birds, golden monkeys and very many others. Apart from wildlife species, you will be able to enjoy scenic views of different peaks of the volcanoes seen through the open space in the forest.

Upon seeing the mountain gorillas, you will be given time of upto 1hr observing their behavior and taking pictures.  It’s absolutely stunning being close to these great apes. They’re more like humans. During this time, you will also be allowed to ask any questions about these species and the guides will give you well and precise answers you will need. Once the 1hr elapses, you will be transferred back to the park offices where you will be awarded a certificate congratulating you for having participated in gorilla trekking in Rwanda.

From here our guides will pick you up, take you to your lodge for lunch and right after lunch you will be transferred to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in Uganda.

Day 3: Gorilla trekking in Bwindi – visit the Batwa

Wake up early in the morning and take breakfast prepared by your lodge. Right after breakfast our driver will be on stand by and ready to take you to the next stop which is the park’s headquarters for briefing. Briefing is always carried out by the guide and here you are given the guidelines to follow during the trek and while close to the great mountain gorillas.

After briefing, you will be led into the thick forest of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park to search for these endangered species. Gorilla trekking usually takes 2hrs – 6hrs depending on the location of a particular gorilla family.

During the trek, you will get to see a lot the park holds within its boundaries like species of birds such as blue billed turaco, African green pigeon, black bee-eater, other species like mammals, primates like L’hoest monkeys, baboons, butterflies, insects and very many others.

After spotting the gorillas, you will be given time of up to 1hr observing and learning their behavior while taking as many photos as you want. During this time, you can as well ask as many questions as you want so that you get to understand these species well.

Once the 1hr has elapsed, you will led back to the park headquarters where you receive a certificate confirming that you did go for gorilla trekking in Uganda. From here, our driver will pick you up and take you to the lodge for lunch and rest for a few hours.

In the late afternoon, you will go for a community walk and here you will visit the Batwa people who initially settled within the Bwindi Impenetrable National Park before they were resettled in the areas surrounding the park.  this group of people used to survive on fruits, hunting and would use herbs to heal a number of diseases. Its amazing getting to see these humans living their normal lives and while you might get the opportunity to have them dance and entertain you.

You will be led back to your lodge to have dinner and then rest.

Day 4: Transfer to Entebbe

Seeing gorillas can be thrilling but it is a once in a lifetime opportunity that everyone deserves to be part of. After having experienced gorillas in two national parks, you will be transferred to Entebbe international Airport. Here you will use the Kabale – Mbarara – Kampala highway where you will get to see the beautiful countryside that is made up of rolling hills, plantations and different trading centers where citizens gather to access services and do trading or shopping. you will stop at Agip motel for lunch and then proceed to Kampala.

Stop over at the equator in Kayabwe where you will be in the southern and northern hemisphere at the same time. Take pictures and visit craft shops then proceed. Upon arrival in Kampala you can go to either a lodge of your choice in Kampala or Entebbe international park.
